Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer face to face or telehealth appointment?

I offer both. I offer face to face appointments at Medical Specialists on Rathdowne in Carlton North. If you prefer telehealth, you can choose this option when making your booking.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Yes, you can speak to your GP about a Chronic Condition Management Plan and this will entitle you to a rebate from Medicare. The current rebate is $61.80. The gap payment is then paid on the day of the appointment.

Will you give me a meal plan?

The short answer is…. no. The reason being, after working as a dietitian for over 15 years, and being a human for over 40, I can see that, although a meal plan may seem like a simple plan to follow, what I generally find is that it is not that useful in the long run. Do you know anyone who’s had a meal plan and stuck to it for years? I personally haven’t. Which is why I don’t provide them. Working with different people has taught me that many have tried this approach and it hasn’t worked. So we try something different. Less rules, more flexibility, and basic principles to follow. That way, good nutrition can be a support in your life, rather than a cause a of stress, guilt or self blame.

Do I need a referral?

No you don’t require a referral from a GP or specialist, you can just book in yourself. In saying that, if you are eligible for a Medicare rebate, a GP referral is required for the Chronic Condition Management Plan.

How many appointments will I need?

It depends. Some people prefer to have a few appointments to get some more intensive support to begin with, and then may move to regular check ins. Others prefer just one appointment with some time in between appointments. It’s your choice, and you do what feels right for you.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

That’s no worries at all. I understand life happens sometimes. Feel free to reschedule or cancel your appointment if it’s not within 48 hours of the appointment. Cancellations and reschedules within 48 hours will incur a $70 fee. Non-attendance will attract the full cost of the appointment. These fees reflect the cost of reserving the appointment time and the impact of late cancellations on the practice
